These two Singing Servants will always be in our hearts... Bro. James Anderton & Bro. Lloyd Mitchell

There are not enough words to be spoken about the man James Anderton. A preacher, a teacher, a servant, a singer, a warrior of spiritual influence, and a spiritual inspiration to his family, friends, and those that have been in close contact for many years. James Anderton is the father of Karen Anderton Hargrove, our alto vocalist, and four other siblings, and several grandchildren, as well great- grandchildren.

Some of my fondest childhood memories were going to the Andertons on saturdays and attending church services on Sunday mornings. Karen would play piano and her siblings would sing harmonies as Uncle James led the singings, and followed up with preaching the word.

Uncle James also attended other church singings, along with Lloyd Mitchell, who is the father of our soprano vocalist Shelby Mitchell Horton. Bro. Lloyd and Uncle James would lead and coach shape note singings with other congregations as part of their missions.

Though tarnished from the toils of this life upon his body, he still reads his bible and his love for the Lord is boundless. Without a doubt, Uncle James will hear this being said, as is spoken in Matthew 25:23,

"His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord."
